Director Jordan Peele used a very specific costume detail to hint at the origins of the Tethered. The single glove, along with their red jumpsuits, is a direct homage to Michael Jackson's "Thriller" era. Young Adelaide is seen wearing a Thriller t-shirt at the beginning of the movie, and her dark reflection adopted this iconic 1980s pop-culture look to build their entire uniform.
