The stars behind Rose were digitally replaced in the 2012 version because Neil deGrasse Tyson complained they were wrong.

In the original 1997 theatrical release, the night sky shown while Rose floats on the wooden door featured an inaccurate, mirrored star pattern. Famous astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson sent James Cameron a snarky email complaining that the stars did not match the actual historical sky of April 1912. Being a notorious perfectionist, Cameron demanded Tyson send him the correct star map. He then spent thousands of dollars to digitally alter the background sky specifically for the 2012 3D re-release just to fix this microscopic error.
