Due to the extremely low budget and chaotic indie shooting schedule, they often had to film insert shots long after the main actors had gone home. When they needed a tight shot of the cyborg's finger tracing Sarah Connor's name in the Los Angeles directory, Arnold Schwarzenegger was not available. Director James Cameron simply used his own hands for the take, which are noticeably much smaller and lack the massive, muscular vascularity of the famous bodybuilder.
