Because Sean Bean didn't have enough time to memorize the lengthy new monologue, he taped a copy of the script directly to his knee. Whenever the camera cuts to him looking downward in solemn contemplation or frustration, he is actually just reading his lines directly off his leg, turning a practical problem into incredible acting.
