Due to an incredibly tight budget, the prop department couldn't afford to manufacture a custom monster mask. They went to a local magic shop and bought a $1.98 Captain Kirk (William Shatner) Star Trek mask. They simply ripped off the sideburns, widened the eye holes with scissors, and spray-painted it stark white to create cinema's most iconic and terrifying slasher face.
