During the epic Battle of Carthage reenactment in the Colosseum, one of the chariots crashes and flips over. As the dust settles, a highly pressurized modern gas cylinder (used to create the flipping effect) is completely visible on the back of the wooden chariot. It is one of the most famous anachronistic goofs in Academy Award-winning cinema history.
