Category: Trivia Fact

Composer Hildur Guðnadóttir wanted the soundtrack of the series to feel as authentic, radioactive, and terrifying as the real disaster. Before writing any traditional music, she traveled to the decommissioned Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant in Lithuania, wearing a hazmat suit to record the actual hum of the heavy reactor doors, pumps, and turbines. She then manipulated those specific industrial recordings to create the entire eerie, metallic musical score for the show.
